The game’s imposing art style bores into your skull with the inexorable regularity of a jackhammer The open world of Sanctuary is richly detailed and foreboding – a fact that the game’s consistent stylistic refrains don’t let you forget. Diablo 4 kicked down the door to my imagination and now lives there rent-free, complete with the obligatory contingent of skulls and gargoyles. The game’s imposing art style bores into your skull with the inexorable regularity of a jackhammer.

Rather, you step into the role of a character who is, despite their role as protagonist, undeniably limited and mortal. The game’s plot, art style, and mechanics all skillfully converge on a single point: the conflict between dark and light, and the poor humans who get caught up in the cosmic mess. Minimally better graphics, horses n minimally custom characters are what we get in D4.Diablo 4’s commitment to the gothic is far more than purely superficial. I expected evolution of all the good and none of the bad, instead I see less of the good and mostly bad and obsolete features. The junk function is inconsistent among vendors and not in the chest which is annoying and equips in some cases where the button would junk. Gems are a pain to do now that we must pay to unsocket and they didn't make it so we can unsocket 1 gem we still must do all or nothing. Even unequipping abilities? The tree system is slow and hard to use vs the D3 version which was super easy and fast, same goes for the vendors.

The game settings are limiting, music is neutral, inventory system is not as good, obstructive menu pop ups are annoying, everything costs money to do now. Player customization is overhyped, I can customize my Nintendo wii character more than on D4. Graphics are better in some ways and neglected in others, especially with camera angles and blind spots all over the place. But why is this game basically a touched up version of diablo 1 & 2? It's like diablo 3 and it's awesomeness got completely swept under the rug for this thing.
